MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Oct 21 (PIA) -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in coordination with the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Council conducted an Orientation Workshop on Republic Act 9344 and Development of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP) in October 13-16, 2015.
The activity, conducted in Cebu City, was aimed to increase an understanding of the local government units on the salient provision/s of RA 9344 as amended by RA 10630 and the revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR), Maasin City Social Welfare Aide informed.
The three-day undertaking also focused in capacitating the LGUs on the development of the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Plan, it was learned.
Under RA 9344, as amended, the LGUs through their Local Social Welfare and Development Office and the Local Planning and Development office shall develop a 3-year CLJIP, according to the source.
Moreover, the Regional Juvenile Justice and Welfare Committee in Region 8 is tasked to ensure the implementation of the said law at the regional level as well as at the LGUs, and also extending assistance to LGUs in the development and implementation of the CLJIP.
From Maasin City, 3 participants attended the said activity in Cebu City including the City Social Welfare Officer Fe Sta. Cruz, while the Provincail government sent also their counterpart. (ajc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
