MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, March 1 (PIA) – The Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Provincial Inter-Agency Action (PIAC) Team in Southern Leyte converged in March 17 to present updates and strengthen the program implementation on the different programs of the Social Welfare department.
DSWD Provincial Link Gina Omillo who presented the updates informed that the total household-beneficiaries for the Pantawid Pampamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) increased to 19,227 as of January to February 2015 compared to 18,000 last year on the same months. The city of Maasin have the highest enrollees with 2,661, then Tomas Oppus with 2,096 and followed by the municipality of Bontoc with 1,909 enrollees. "All municipalities were covered by the program," she added.
The presentation tackled targets and accomplishments of the social services programs such as the Social Pension, with 7,300 social pensioners, Kalahi-CIDSS-National Community Driven Development Program, Sustainable Livelihood Program, Bottoms-up Budgeting, Enhanced Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS), among other related programs and services.
"The agency has downloaded P7-M to the provincial government for the AICS program," Omillo reported. The amount is part of the total P13, 700,000 allotted for AICS in the province, P3,942 were disbursed at the DSWD Regional Field Office 8 with a remaining balance of P2,758,000, she further stated.
On the Sustainable Livelihood Program, a total of 1,260 beneficiaries benefitted for the Micro-enterprise Development and Employment Facilitation, while the Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan Comprehensive and Integrated Development of Social Services (Kalahi-Cidss) allocated P218.8-Million, P217.5-M of it was already obliged, Omillo added.
Furthermore, Omillo urged the recipient municipalities and those concerned to liquidate their funds so that additional funds will be released, and programs and projects will be continuously implemented.
The PIAC team convergence meeting held at the RKK Function House here was graced by Gov. Roger G. Mercado, DSWD Kalahi-Cidss Deputy Program Manager Eubolo Co and DSWD Regional Director Nestor Ramos as guest speakers in behalf of the provincial government and DSWD Regional Director Nestor Ramos, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officers, DSWD focal Persons, Provincial Link and staff, provincial SDWO led by Luzviminda Rosete, partner agencies, among others.
