MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, March 2 (PIA) – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Maasin City Fire Station kicked-off Sunday its activities for the Fire Prevention Month celebrated for the month of March.
BFP Supply Officer Raul Inocando reported that a Unity Walk - Walk for a Fire Free and Fire Safe Nation - was conducted to start of the activities. Jjoining the BFP were Maasin City employees walking around the city, followed by an exhibition game between the BFP and Philippine National Police (PNP) , all in the morning of Sunday. A Thanksgiving Mass at Maasin Cathedral and a motorcade around the city were held in the afternoon,
He said that testing of fire hydrants, distribution of leaflets and hanging of tarpaulins are also some of their activities to provide awareness among the public on fire safety and prevention.
Other activities set for the month-long fire prevention month are the following: Fire Safety Seminar and Fire Drill at Asuncion Integrated School in barangay Asuncion, another Fire Safety Seminar and Fire Drill at Matin-ao Integrated School in Barangay Matin-ao and in Barangay Combado, all in Maasin City.
A Volunteer Firefighters Training is also lined-up during the month-long nationwide celebration. A fire drill in Metro Hiper-Gaisano and the Barangay Olympics will also be done.
This year's Fire Prevention Month carries the theme, "Kaligtasan sa Sunog, Alamin, Gawin at Isabuhay Natin." (esg/rgc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
