SOGOD, Southern Leyte (PIA) -- A total of 194 personnel working anywhere from the six (6) campuses of the Southern Leyte state University (SLSU) got the surprise of their lives when they were assured security of tenure.

This developed after all of them were being granted work promotion by top school management, duly sanctioned by the Civil Service Commission (CSC).

The raise came at a time when it was needed most “with the adverse impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the numerous natural calamities which affected the lives of most of the employees,” the University said.

Separate oath-taking ceremonies for the six campuses were held December 6-7, where the concerned employees were sworn in for their new, level-up positions, the oaths administered by University President Prose Ivy Yepes.

"Opportunities like getting a promotion are usually good, but while thinking about moving up the hierarchy with more power and status, let us also think of the greater duties that we are tasked to do," Yepes said in his message during the swearing-in ceremonies, reminding the newly sworn with their newfound responsibilities.

“There are responsibilities that you need to fulfill not only to yourself but to our beloved institution and to the communities we serve,” she added.

“Congratulations for a job very well done,” Yepes, visibly beaming, further said. (LDL/MMP, PIA Southern Leyte)
