MAASIN CITY, May 21 (PIA) -- The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) – Southern Leyte Provincial Office received this year’s funding that would surely spell out more skills training programs under the Private Education Student Financial Assistance (PESFA) program.
According to Officer-in-Charge Jed Paolo Cairo, TESDA 8 Regional Director Gamaliel Vicente Jr has committed the PESFA scholarship program under the name of Congressman Roger Mercado of the lone district of Southern Leyte.
The province of Southern Leyte will receive an allocation of P1.4 million for 2021 PESFA scholarship program implementation, he added.
“TESDA - Southern Leyte is calling for interested applicants who may avail of the following training programs under PESFA 2021: Organic Agriculture Production NC II with 16 slots, Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC II with 20 slots, Electrical Installation and Maintenance NC II with 10 slots, Computer Systems Servicing NC II with 15 slots, Health Care Service NC II with 10 slots and Cookery NC II with 10 slots,” Cairo reported.
Meanwhile, TESDA 8 appreciated Congressman Roger Mercado’s move for the funding allocation of the Fiscal Year 2019 STEP skills training program in the amount of P3-M for Southern Leyte.
Earlier this month, TESDA Provincial Office facilitated the distribution of 2019 Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) Toolkits in Barangay Pamigsi-an, Bontoc, this province, Cairo further said.
Some 20 scholars from among the local residents of the said barangay were trained on Bread Making leading to Bread and Pastry Production NC II, he said.
