MAASIN CITY, May 9 (PIA) -- A team of inspectors headed by District Engineer Manolo Rojas of the DPWH-Southern Leyte Engineering District Office (SLDEO)inspected last week several infrastructure projects implemented in this city and in the towns of Padre Burgos and Tomas Oppus.
The ocular site visits were made to ensure quality of the public works projects, the SLDEO said in a press statement.
Inspected were the road concreting in barangays San Agustin and Dongon, upland and interior villages, respectively, as well as the flood control in Brgy. Bogo, another interior barangay, in this city.
Also inspected were the multi-purpose building project in the municipality of Tomas Oppus, which is ongoing, and the major road slope protection in Padre Burgos town.
“The directive to fast-track completion of projects carries with it the task to regularly monitor the implementation of projects,” DE Rojas said.
“Inspection of projects is very necessary for us to determine whether or not the contractors comply with the processes and standards set by the department,” Rojas further said.
The report stated that DPWH-SLDEO is tasked to maintain 299 kilometers of national roads and 155 bridges that can be found in 18 towns and one city of the province. (ldl/mmp/PIA8-Southern Leyte)
