MAASIN CITY, April 30 (PIA) -- Agricultural program is the top priority of the municipality of Macrohon, Southern Leyte through its ALAN program which stands for Agriculture, Livelihood, Agribusiness and Networking.

In the Laging Handa Network Briefing News on Thursday, April 29, Macrohon Mayor Alan Jose Aroy reported that while the local government unit of Macrohon is abundant in agricultural resources, program ALAN was conceptualized to help address the needs of farmers in the production as well as in marketing of their harvest.

“Dahil pandemic ngayon, karamihan walang hanapbuhay, tinulungan namin sila sa marketing, naggawa kami ng mobile market locally and sa labas ng ating bayan para matulungan sila na maubos ang kanilang mga produkto,” Aroy said.

Aroy added that interventions were also initiated in support to the farmers’ livelihood such as free land preparation where they gave tractors for free to the farmers.

“The LGU also distributed for free organic farm inputs and direct linkage to people’s organizations and cooperatives were also accorded to them,” Aroy said.

The Network Briefing News hosted by PCOO Asec. JV Arcena was also joined by Macrohon Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Reenjeff Paul Balili and PCOO Usec. Michael Kristian Ablan as guests. (ldl/rgc/PIA8 Southern Leyte)
