MAASIN CITY, April 24 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Southern Leyte will grant a daily allowance of P1,000 each for the 20 nurses it has committed as a gesture of support and in response to the call of President Rodrigo Duterte for medical staff augmentation to the National Capital Region.
In a video message posted under mata mata facebook account, Gov. Damian Mercado shared that the provincial board filed a resolution for the additional grant of the monetary incentive for the period of three months.
“For the DOH side, round-trip ticket is free, accommodation is free, and then the salary the nurse shall receive, including allowances, will reach P45,000 a month. In order to convince nurses, the provincial government passed a resolution to grant additional incentive/honorarium of P 1,000 per day,” Gov. Mercado said.
The total compensation package an individual nurse willing to volunteer and serve will receive P75,000 a month, a sure savings, the governor added.
Among the hospitals they will be expected to be deployed are the Lung Center, Kidney Center, and San Lazaro hospital, all established health and wellness institutions, the governor stressed.
The request of the President to send more medical personnel in the nation’s capital was coursed through the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), Gov. Mercado also said.
He called on nurses with one year experience to come to his office for the signing of contract to undergo the challenging assignment.
In the same video post, Dr. Feliciano Matibag, provincial health officer, informed that at least five nurses had already enlisted for the emergency employment.
However, of the five, only one submitted documents and was part of the 11 staff sent to Manila from Region 8 this week, Matibag responded in an update through text message to radio reporter Dahlia Orit of Radyo Pilipinas - Sogod. (ldl/mmp/PIA8-Southern Leyte)
