MAASIN CITY, June 16 (PIA) - The longest baywalk in the province stands to make economic upturn to at least four barangays of the town of Anahawan as that would certainly attract tourists and even local residents who wants to have moments of serenity and fresh air rest.
Anahawan Municipal Mayor Roberto Loquinto said the inauguration last June 13, “the 1.11 kilometer- baywalk project hopefully brings more economic activities, increase local tourist destinations, create livelihood opportunities, wellness area, water sports, among others, in the municipality.”
The P26 Million worth baywalk project is constructed 26 concrete posts with LED lights, according to Govt Intern Program (GIP-DOLE)Annalyn Maturan, who is based in PIA.
Four barangays, namely Looc, Tagupon, Poblacion and San Vicente, all of Anahawan, are covered with the stretch of the newly-inaugurated baywalk, it was learned.
Mayor Loquinte warmly expressed gratitude to Congressman Damian Mercado and Governor Roger Mercado for their financial counterpart in the completion of the longest baywalk in the province, Maturan noted.
Congressman Mercado urged the local residents to keep the whole stretch of the baywalk clean while Governor Roger Mercado candidly hoped that barbecue stands shall flourish in the area, as well, Maturan said.(esg/PIA SoLeyte)
