MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, May 7 (PIA) - The Philippine National Red Cross (PRC)- Southern Leyte Chapter is now complemented with 11 more vibrant Red Cross youth volunteers, who just qualify as youth instructors last Friday.
Eleven out of thirteen RCY leaders that have completed the Youth Instructor's Training Course came from the local chapter while the rest came from Bohol Chapter, OIC Administrator Jonas Maco announced during the closing ceremony held at Pugaling Beach House last May 2, 2014.
The training which lasted 10 days commenced from April 22 until May 2, 2014 at Limasawa Island with the assistance from the Philippine Red Cross Headquarters based in Manila, he said.
Maco said these youth instructors will soon be dispersed in different schools and barangays to conduct youth empowerment training courses to children ranging from 7 up to 24 years old. However, the out of school youths could also be included in the program, he said.
Topics on Youth Volunteer Course, Basic Youth Leadership Course, among others, will be imparted by these youth instructors and at the same time the recruitment of Red Cross youth shall be conducted as well, it was learned.(esg/PIA8 SoLeyte)
