MAASIN CITY, Feb. 25 (PIA) -- The Philippine National Police (PNP) – Southern Leyte Police Provincial Office (SLPPO) will have its new standard office building with a groundbreaking ceremony conducted on Friday, February 21.

“Today is another great history for the SLPPO because we are the first to be awarded to have a standard PNP office building,” Provincial Director PCol. Nelson DC Eucogco in his message said.

He said that this will serve as an inspiration for the police force, “to serve and improve our performance” as he ordered the men and women, uniformed and non-uniformed personnel, to do more to maintain peace and order in the whole province.

“We should not be contented on the declaration as the most peaceful province in the whole Eastern Visayas region because the most difficult task is how to maintain that declaration,” Eucogco said.

The new structure, which is worth P24 million, is located near the old police provincial office at Camp Alfredo K. Bantug, Maasin City.

On the other hand, Cong. Roger G. Mercado said, "The new PNP building is one of our dream projects, so let us celebrate the realization of the said project, as a pride of all policemen throughout the province.”

Mercado, who was one of the guests during the groundbreaking ceremony, assured for more developments for the province of Southern Leyte.

“These are developments that are lasting and sustainable in our efforts to support Tourism, Environment Protection and Agriculture (TEA) programs of this administration,” he said.

The groundbreaking activity was led by Rev. Fr. Nicholo Florencio as the officiating priest, some provincial board members, chiefs of police from different local police stations here, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DWH) as the implementing agency led by DE Ma. Margarita Junia, the local media, among others. (ldl/esg/rgc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
