MAASIN CITY, Aug. 6 (PIA) -- The Department of Education (DepEd) – Southern Leyte Division celebrated its 56th founding anniversary on Tuesday, August 7, with the theme, “Forging Partnerships, Strengthening Relationships."

This year’s anniversary aims to celebrate the history and humble beginnings of the education institution and forge more partnerships while strengthening relationships with other organizations and government agencies, senior education program specialist Lyna Gayas said.

One of the highlights of the celebration is the turn-over of a container van by the City Savings Bank–Sogod branch to DepEd-Southern Leyte, Gayas said.
The container van from the City Saving Bank -Sogod Branch which willl be turned-over to DepEd-Southern Leyte Division on August 7, 2018 on the occasion of the Division's 56th founding annoversary.

Gayas said DepEd-Southern Leyte’s preparations for the foundation anniversary is on going for the following activities: Tabo sa Kinaadman Booth Display, which will showcase the pupils and students output and performances; two-day live-out Entrepreneurial Training on Alternative Food Processing and Marketing for selected elementary and secondary teachers; and the Balitaw and Doble Kara contest for school heads.

Other activities include massage, pedicure and manicure services from the Alternative Learning System (ALS) learners, zumbalympics and parlor games.

At least 400 participants are expected to join the event which will be attended by school heads, division office personnel, secondary and elementary school teachers, pupils, students and guests. (lsl/rgc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
