MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Mar 6 (PIA) - The Bureau of Fire Protection – Maasin City Fire Station started its month-long Fire Prevention Month activities on the first day of March with a motorcade around Maasin City proper.
Fire Officer Raul Inocando informed that activities during the month-long celebration include the simultaneous blowing of horns of the BFPs firetrucks early morning of March 1, and a unity walk in the afternoon participated by city hall employees, students from different schools in the locality, representatives from national line agencies, the BFP personnel, among other concerned groups and individuals. Inocando said that a BerongBumbero Sa Paaralan will also be conducted at various High Schools in Maasin City . The students will be oriented on how to prevent fire, among other safety and security measures during emergencies. Fire drills at identified establishments are also among those activities lined-up for the fire prevention month activities, Inocando bared. Other activities include a Refresher Training for Fire Volunteers; open house for elementary school pupils; Fire Safety Seminar at Parole and Probation Office; Blood Letting in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross-Southern Leyte Chapter; and Poster Making and Essay Writing Contest at Maasin City National High School. Activities at the BFP regional level will also be conducted in line with Fire Prevention Month such as the Regional Fire Olympics and the Regional Sportsfest, the source added.
