MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, February 20 (PIA) – After the surprise conduct of Oplan Greyhound operation, Maasin City jail yielded negative of illegal drugs, deadly weapons inside their dormitories early morning on February 20, 2017.

According to Jail Warden Chief Inspector Arlene Barraca,  joint forces of  seven PDEA 8 agents with their two sniffing dogs and officers of Maasin City jail personnel, surprised the boarders as they searched the male and female dormitories giving them no time to hide any contrabands they might possessed. She added that though the search yielded no illegal drugs and deadly weapons several minor contrabands were confiscated such as some blades, nails, nail cutter, hanger, scissor, pencil, ballpen, shave, cigarette butt. It also included magnet, empty cigarette pack, perfume inside a bottle, male plug, electric wire, empty spider cage, battery, playing card, foundation bottle, empty case of inhaler, magnetic wire, mosquito repellant stand, screw, insulated staple wire and bamboo stick, she said. Maasin City jail presently houses 148 residents where 109 cases are drug related, Barraca disclosed. (ajc/esg/PIA8 SoLeyte)
