MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Feb. 20 (PIA) -- The provincial government of Southern Leyte is targeting to train more than 2,000 provincial employees throughout the province in Basic Life Support (BLS) , Dr. Julius Duarte from the Provincial Health Services Office (PHSO) revealed.
Duarte informed during the second batch of the targeted continuous training for provincial employees that the province is aiming for a “”Ready Southern Leyte” in preparation for any calamity that will hit the province. The BLS training started last February 9-10, 2017, Duarte bared. “It was followed by another Thursday and Friday, February 16-17 and another Thursdays and Fridays for the next coming batches, until all of the provincial employees will be trained with basic life support,” he said. From the total of 33 participants of the 2nd batch of BLS training were (7) nurses, personnel from the offices of Provincial Vet, Provincial Agriculture and Services , Human Resources Division, and Provincial General and Services, it was learned. Topics for the BLS program training include Foreign Body Obstruction, Rescue Breathing, Automatic External Defibrillation, among other orientation and lectures based on the Compression, Airway, Breathing module, Duarte revealed further. He said that a return demonstration was also conducted by the participants. Resource speakers during the 2-day BLS training include personnel from the Rural Health Units( RHU), Salvacion Oppus Yῆiguez Memorial Provincial Hospital (SOYMPH), and Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO).
