MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, Jan. 31 (PIA) -- “It’s this time of the year again when we search for the best in the public service and put them on spotlight for their outstanding work and contributions to the Filipino people,” Civil Service Commission (CSC) – Southern Leyte Provincial Office said in a message.

The Civil Service Commission (CSC) called for nominations to the 2017 Search for Outstanding Government Workers. The CSC urged those concerned offices especially its Human Resource Management Offices to nominate their outstanding and qualified employees to the Search.   The CSC disclosed that the deadline of submission of nominations is March 31, 2017. The Honor Awards Program (HAP) carries the theme “ Hero ang Public Servant.” The Honor Awards program is an annual undertaking of the Civil Service Commission that recognizes government officials and employees who have displayed outstanding work performance. The conferment of honor awards aims to motivate or inspire government employees to improve the quality of their performance and instill deeper involvement in public service. It was learned that the search culminates with the recognition and conferment of awards to deserving public servants during the celebration of the anniversary of the Philippine Civil Service in September. The awards ceremony is conferred by the President of the Republic of the Philippines as the highest official, or the Executive Secretary should the President be unable to grace the event. There are three award categories mentioned such as : The Presidential Lingkod Bayan and CSCPagasa Awards for work performance and Dangal ng Bayan for ethical behavior. These are the highest honor a civil servant could receive in his or her career in public service, the source said. (ajc/rgc/PIA8-SoLeyte)
